The Transportation Association of Maryland's (TAM) Spring General Membership Meeting will be held on May 17-19, 2022 at the Turf Valley Resort. This meeting will include a full Board of Directors meeting, elections for the Board of Directors, and a session on developing a mentorship program presented by Lynn Berger of Strategic Evolution. On May 18 & 19, the Maryland Department of Transportation's Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) in partnership with TAM will be hosting the Certified Community Transit Manager (CCTM) program How to Register Registration fees for the TAM General Meeting are as follows: TAM Members $75
Non-member Attendees $100 Registration is free for the CCTM training, but is restricted to one attendee per Locally Operated Transit System. Registration for the TAM General Meeting and the CCTM training can be done online by clicking the link above. If someone is attending both the TAM General Meeting and the CCTM training, they must select both events during registration. Please note that registration for CCTM training requires filling out an official application and has eligibility requirements. More information can be found below. Location The General Meeting and CCTM training will be held at the Turf Valley Resort on 2700 Turf Valley Road, in Ellicott City, MD 21042. General Meeting TAM's General Meetings are opportunities for our members to come together as an organization, learn about TAM's current status and plans, and help decide the future of the organization. During the Board meeting portion of the meeting, our Committee chairs will give reports on the activities and status of TAM's efforts in various arenas, including training, member services, government affairs, and events like the Roadeo and Fall Conference. Our FY 2023 budget will be presented and an election will be conducted to fill expiring terms on the Board of Directors. To complete our day, we have asked Lynn Berger of Strategic Evolution to present a session on developing a mentorship program. During the meeting, our attendees will enjoy a buffet lunch and hear the results of the board candidates balloting. Developing a Mentorship Program
Presented by Lynn Berger of Strategic Evolution Formal mentoring programs help organizations retain employees, increase job satisfaction and commitment, and cultivate organizational citizenship behavior. In this course, Lynn Berger outlines critical elements of a formal mentoring program, and explains how to establish a program in your own organization. Lynn covers designing a framework and a needs assessment for your mentoring program, creating a mentoring culture, choosing participants, and providing training and ongoing support for participants. Nominations: All candidates standing for election to the Board are required to fill out and return to TAM via email ([email protected]) a completed nomination form (attached here). Nominations must be received by Friday, April 29 at 5 PM. Elections: The election will be conducted during the General Meeting. Each TAM member organization will have one vote to cast for each of the open positions. Ballots will be collected and counted by Board members not currently up for election and the results will be announced at the end of lunch. Certified Community Transit Manager (CCTM) Program The best community transportation managers in the country have the initials “CCTM” after their name. The CCTM designation marks the standard of excellence in the community transportation industry; as it’s proof of the ability to manage a comprehensive and dynamic community transportation system. The certification is valid for three years. To become a CCTM, a person must submit an application documenting their experience and accomplishments, and must pass a comprehensive certification exam. The examination addresses six knowledge areas: (1) human resources management, (2) budgeting & financial management, (3) transportation operation management, (4) service planning and development (5) procurement and contract management. Normally, the application and exam fee is $200 for CTAA members and $300 for non-members. Please note, this fee is waived for all those attending TAM's CCTM two-day preparatory workshop. This allows, if necessary, to re-take (once) the sections not passed on the first attempt. If the applicant does not pass the exam after the re-take, they must re-apply and re-submit the fees. Please note that if you have already received CCTM certification, you do not need to attend this course to recertify. Recertification can be done online at https://ctaa.formstack.com/forms/cctm_recertification Hotel Accommodations Those attending the two-day CCTM workshop will have hotel rooms covered at MDOT MTA's expense for Tuesday, May 17, 2022 and Wednesday, May 18, 2022. Hotel rooms will be booked directly by TAM based on information provided during registration (with a limit of 1 person per system). Meals Registration for the TAM General meeting will include a continental breakfast and lunch on May 17. Registration for the two-day CCTM training will include breakfast and lunch on May 18 and 19.
