TAM is proud to announce our first ever Federal Hill Legislative Day! This is your opportunity to meet representatives and staff of Maryland's congressional delegation. In these unprecedented times for Maryland community transportation, it's more important than ever that our voice be heard and recognized not only in Annapolis but in Washington DC as well. We all know how much our agencies depend on federal funding, how much time is spent complying with federal regulation, and how concerned we all are with changing requirements, procedures, and best practices. Come join us and show your representatives just what you do for their constituents.

When: September 11, 2025 from 8 AM - 1 PM

Where: Rayburn House Office Building, Room 2045, 45 Independence Ave SW, Washington, DC 2051

Who should attend: TAM Members and community transit advocates from across our state!

This event will be similar in design to our Annapolis reception, held every January. We will have display tables (Available on a first-registered, first-serve basis to attending members) and catered food available. Maryland's entire congressional delegation and staff will be invited to attend.

Registration

Members: $30 per attendee, $50 for a table.
Nonmembers: $60 per attendee.
How to register: Visit www.taminc.org/fed25 to register.

How to Prepare

TAM will be hosting a virtual 'prep' session on Tuesday, September 2 at 3 PM to help prepare all our attendees for meeting with their delegation. We also ask all our members, both those attending and those who are unable to do so, to prepare and send to TAM by September 4 a 'one pager' describing your organization, your accomplishments, and your needs.

A good one pager:

  • Is Graphically attractive and well-formatted
  • Contains plenty of facts and data that support your agency's activities and mission - trips provided, growth
  • Has Data that shows your agency's needs - cost increases, vehicle status, shortages of any kind, capacity constraints

SEPTA's PDF is a good example (although 3 pages instead of 1) of a good graphical presentation of an agency's need.

How to Get There

The Rayburn House Office Building is located on Independence Avenue between First Street SW and South Capitol Street in Washington, DC. The event will take place in Room 2045 on the second floor.

By Metro: From Capitol South Station: Take the Blue or Orange line to Capitol South Metro station. After ascending the escalators from the Metro station, turn left on First Street. Take a left at the corner onto C Street. The Rayburn Building is the third office building on your right. Visit Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority's website (www.wmata.com) for rail maps, fares, how to ride and more.

By Car: Traveling to Capitol Hill by car is discouraged as parking in the area is extremely limited. Most street parking is time restricted at 2 hours, so it is only practical for brief meetings. Some street parking is metered. Look for parking beyond the two block range from the US Capitol building as public parking is not permitted in the two block area surrounding the Capitol. Do not look for parking due west of the Capitol building because that area includes the Capitol Reflecting Pool and permit-only parking. Alternatives include parking at Union Station (Metro: Union Station) and walking or parking at the Washington Design Center (Metro: Federal Center SW) and taking the Metro to the Capitol South Metro stop, walking or taking a cab.
