Our 2022 Legislative Reception will be going virtual on January 26, 2022!

Due to the current public health situation, and mindful of the difficulties many of our members and guests would face in attending our in-person reception, TAM is moving our Legislative Reception virtual on the Zoom platform on January 26, 2022 from 6 PM - 7:30 PM. Special Guest Delegate Karen Lewis Young

TAM is excited to announce special guest Delegate Karen Lewis Young, District 3A, Frederick County to our Legislative Review.  Delegate Young has been a member of the House of Delegates since January 14, 2015, currently serving on the Health and Government Operations Committee and Joint Committee on Behavioral Health and Opioid Use Disorders. She is the Chair of the Frederick County Delegation, and member of the Women Legislators of Maryland, Maryland Legislative Latino Caucus, Maryland Legislative Transit Caucus, Maryland Veterans Caucus, State Advisory Council on Hereditary and Congenital Disorders, Maryland Commission on Caregiving, and the Governor's Commission to Study Mental and Behavioral Health in Maryland. View complete bio here.  

Special Guest Jim Ports

TAM is excited to welcome the Maryland Department of Transportation's new Secretary (and TAM alumni) Jim Ports to our legislative review. As the Maryland Transportation Authority's Executive Director, As MDTA’s executive director, Ports oversaw all of the state’s toll facilities and the E-ZPass Maryland system. Prior to his appointment as executive director, Ports served as MDOT’s deputy secretary under two administrations. In addition, he previously served as deputy administrator for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and chief executive officer for Harford County’s transit system. Jim also served on the TAM Board of Directors from 2012-2014, and has been a frequent guest at TAM's annual conferences.

Do you know how to view testimony? How to look up a bill? How to track legislation? How to submit testimony and sign up witnesses? TAM will take you through the process and give insight into how bills in Maryland become law.


Advocacy Guide

Sarah Peters of Husch Blackwell Strategies and TAM Executive Director John Duklewski will be hosting opportunities during the review for attendees to engage in one-on-one roleplay conversations with expert advice on how to effectively advocate with elected officials.


Trivia Contest

To conclude the night, TAM will be hosting a Maryland transit trivia contest! Put on your thinking caps - winners will receive TAM gear!
